To help cultivate sisterhood, develop leadership skills, promote academic excellence, and to empower girls to know “I AM MY SISTER’S KEEPER ” Participants accomplish our organization’s mission through our 5 target enrichment programming: Goal Setting, Personal Image & Social Development, Etiquette 101 College and Career Preparation, Leadership Development.
THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME
Ebony and Pink Pearls is a 501(c)3 faith-based nonprofit organization, a mentoring program dedicated to providing educational enrichment services for girls ages 11-18 to foster their unique gifts and talents. To help them understand their identity, value and worth by empowering them with confidence to accomplish all their future aspirationsGod gave me the peculiar name Ebony and Pink Pearls as a unique way to capture the audience of all women. He gave me a name that would exemplify their worth beyond physical appearances and demographic backgrounds.
The world is comprised of beauty. God created women of different shades and colors. I believe if we combined and mixed all of our unique shades it would form the color black; or what I call EBONY. This began to shape the unity and the complexity of the name, one that would reach and include all women of different races and ethnicities.
Color psychology suggests the color PINK represents first-rate, superior, supreme, choice, select, and top tier. I believe such adjectives symbolize the essence of all women, which began to form the depth and breadth of the organization and how women should identify their worth.
A PEARL is defined as a noun and is characterized as a precious thing, highly prized, a gem. I believe women are priceless and should be valued as a pearl; hence forming the name EBONY AND PINK PEARLS!
